Grilled Cheese Rolls Recipe


Grilled Cheese Rolls

for 6 roll-ups:
  • 6 slices very soft, fresh white bread (crusts removed)
  • 6 slices American cheese (such as Kraft singles)
  • butter for “toasting”
  • homemade marinara/spaghetti sauce (or your favorite store bought brand)
Using a sharp knife, carefully remove the crusts from the bread slices. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin until very flat. Place a slice of American cheese on each of the flattened bread slices and roll each of these up into a tight roll. Moosh the edge of the bread to the roll to seal (you can use a couple drops of water to do this if needed.)

      Gather all of your leftover soap pieces. Grate each soap piece with a grater until you have enough for one cup. Cutting the soap into tiny pieces works, too.

      Fill a saucepan halfway with water and place it on the stove, turning the burner to medium heat. Next, place the glass bowl in the pan, making a homemade double boiler.

      Pour the milk into the glass bowl and then add the grated soap. Using water instead of milk also works well.

      Stir the soap mixture often to ensure that it does not stick to the bottom. Once the mixture has melted, remove the saucepan from heat.

      Spoon the melted soap into the muffin tins. Alternatively, plastic containers, candy molds or even milk cartons can work as molds for your soap.

      Set the soap aside so it will cool and harden to the touch, which usually takes between three and four hours. Placing the molds in the freezer for one hour will help speed up the cooling time.

      Remove the soap from the muffin tins and place on a wire rack. This will help the soap to harden completely and can take up to a couple of weeks. Once the soap is cured, or completely dry throughout, you can use the soap.

The Ultimate Barbecued Ribs

  • 2 slabs baby back ribs (about 3 pounds)
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 bacon slices
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1/2 onion
  • 3 smashed garlic cloves
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup peach preserves
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard or 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons red or white wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika

Directions

Special equipment: Kitchen twine
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F. Put the ribs on a baking sheet, season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Stick them in the oven, and let the ribs bake, low and slow for 1 1/2 hours.
Meanwhile, make the sauce. Wrap the bacon around the middle of the thyme sprigs and tie with kitchen twine so you have a nice bundle. Heat a 2-count of oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the thyme bundle and cook slowly for 3 to 4 minutes to render the bacon fat and give the sauce a nice smoky taste. Add the onion and garlic and cook slowly, without coloring, for 5 minutes. Add all of the rest of the sauce ingredients, give the sauce a stir, and turn the heat down to low. Cook slowly for 20 minutes to meld the flavors. Put some sauce in a separate bowl for basting, reserving the remaining sauce for serving.
Baste the ribs with the sauce and let them continue cooking, basting twice more, for 30 more minutes. When the ribs are cooked, take them out of the oven. You can let them hang out like this until you're ready to eat.
When ready to eat, preheat the broiler for 5 minutes and broil the ribs, basting with the sauce. They should become crisp and charred, about 5 minutes on each side. Pick the onion and garlic out of the sauce and serve with ribs.

Spicy Crispy Potato Wedges

Ingredients:
  • 2 medium potatoes peeled and cut
  • into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon Paprika spicy
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 3/4  cup shaved parmesan cheese
Directions
  1. Turn oven on to 450 degreesF; grease pan. Slice the potatoes in half lengthwise on a cutting board.
  2. Cut each lengthwise half into 4 pieces to make a total of 8 wedges for each potato or 16 total.
  3. Put the wedges in the pan and spread them to make a single layer.
  4. Brush the melted butter over the potatoes.
  5. Combine the 4 seasonings in a small dish and mix well.
  6. Sprinkle mixture over the potatoes. (Be generous)
  7. Put the crumbs and shaved parmesan cheese into a plastic bag and coat each potato with the crumb mixture. Please they are well covered with bread and cheese
  8. Bake on center rack for 30 minutes.
  9. Place the potatoes on a cooking sheet in a single layer.
  10. Take them out after 30 minutes and turn over the potatoes.
  11. In this step if you want you can re- brush the potatoes with butter
  12. Bake for 10 more minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
