Mont-Megantic Observatory

I saw the most beautiful stars!

In the first International Dark Sky Reserve in the world! The Reserve is located in the Megantic region, where travelers cross through some of the highest mountains in southern Quebec. From this location, the eye can see for kilometres in every direction and visitors can enjoy the tranquility of being next to a lake. Here, the night can be spent admiring an exceptional night sky.

This year, for the International Year of Astronomy celebrating the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s first look at the sky through a telescope, the Parc national du Mont-Mégantic presents a series of special activities devoted to the stars. The ASTROLab now features a new permanent exhibit called From a starry sky to the Infinite Universe.

Vacations by the lake
Vacations cannot be perfect vacations if a lake is not involved. The Megantic region is brimming with summer activities: educational, cultural or entertainment cruises on panoramic boats like Le Coudrier  in Lake-Megantic or the Odyssée in Stratford,  boat rentals at the Complexe Baie-des-Sables, fishing, or just simply nature watching. “Why not make the whole family happy?” ask our ecstatic vacationers. Like them, stay close to the water in one of our inns, hotels, B&Bs or cabins. Why not try a new type of lodging: sleep in a yurt or a tipi!
